Two new container hotels are set to begin operations this spring near some of the busiest highways in Germany.

The Düsseldorf start-up Roatel, specialised in providing accommodation for lorry drivers along busy motorways in Germany, just opened a micro-hotel in Jessen (Saxony-Anhalt) and announced its next location on the A7 motorway near Busdorf in Schleswig-Holstein.

The new rest stop, located next to Sprint petrol station on the B187 road, features four rooms with access to showers, toilets, ATMs, a shop, bistro and restaurant, parking spaces and car wash 24/7 to offer long-distance drivers some comfort and rest during a long trip.

Roatel has so far set up 11 container hotels in 7 federal states across Germany since the start of the project in 2019. The company plan is to reach 35 Roatels in the country by the end of the year and expand to Europe in 2024.
