Choosing the right truck - 1

For all of us, the holiday season can bring some unhealthy habits. Like not having enough rest, overeating, or having the holiday blues instead of Christmas cheer. For the people on the road, this applies to even greater lengths. Especially when they must be away from their loved ones.

Here are our tips for staying healthy physically and mentally on the road.

1. Make the best out of your schedule and have enough rest. Being well-rested helps your mood and it is going to be easier to find joy, even away from family during the festivities. Make sure that you are taking the best out of your rest hours.

2. For a healthy body focus on good nutrition. Make sure to enjoy a well-balanced festive meal. Even try to cook something yourself, also make sure to stay hydrated, not only during holidays of course. And to bring the Christmas spirit to you, find some fellow drivers to share it with. They most certainly will enjoy the company.

3. Stay connected! Even away from home, technology gives you the chance to be close to all the people you love and cherish. Talking on the phone is nice but seeing the faces of the people you miss is even better. Join the family dinner or the opening of Christmas presents via face time, skype, or another app that you use to communicate. Thanks to technology we can never really be away from home.

4. If you have the chance, make sure to do something nice for others. Volunteer at a charity activity along the road. It will help you see all the things that you can be grateful for. Share a meal with a peer, share some good stories, have a laugh.  Communication is the key to keeping a positive mindset and being away from the blues.

5. Shift Your Focus. Our mind is stronger than even we suspect. We are wired to experience more of what we focus on. Instead of thinking about what you are missing, focus on all the good things in life. Practice gratitude. Gratitude for your loved ones, for your health and energy, for the beautiful world that we live in.

We are grateful to you for your dedication. Truck drivers are the life of our economy. Without you, no industry can thrive. The goods and services you deliver support jobs, provide supplies, and keep the industries working. Thank you! And have cheerful holidays!
